Works to improve communities by insuring the rehabilitation or development of low to moderate income housing, by offering single family mortgage insurance, and by enforcing federal fair housing laws. Provides federal funding for housing for low income individuals and families, the elderly, and the disabled through a variety of programs that include Housing Choice Vouchers, project based Section 8 housing and low income public housing. Also awards funds for the homeless and for people living with AIDS/HIV.
Note: Programs are administered by its partners, including but not limited to lenders, private owners, housing authorities, the state of Connecticut and non-profits.
