Description
There are two steps to obtain a Connecticut State Permit to Carry Pistols and Revolvers:
1. Applicants must first obtain a Local Pistol Permit from their local police department, city or town hall or first selectman's office.
2. Once you have a Local Pistol Permit, you can apply for the Connecticut State Permit to Carry Pistols and Revolvers.
NOTE: Some weapons have special registration rules, and some weapons are completely prohibited in the State of Connecticut. Call the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection's Special Licensing and Firearms Unit for special information about firearms other than handguns.

Program Delivery
Eligibility: Must be at least age 21; Must be in the United States lawfully; Must have not have been convicted of a felony, certain misdemeanors or certain mental health history; Must not be subject to a Protective or Restraining Order; Must not have been confined in a psychiatric hospital within the preceding 60 months by order of a probate court; Must not have been discharged from custody within the preceding twenty years after having been found not guilty of a crime by reason of mental disease or defect; Other restrictions may apply - call for information or visit the DESPP website.
