Description
SCHOOL HEALTH CARE: Professional nurses verify student immunization records and compliance with Maryland law, administer prescribed medications/treatments, screens for communicable diseases, hearing, vision, and check blood pressure. Provides health counseling and teaching. Identifies students with special health care needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the parent and the student's physician, and instructs the school staff with the appropriate information. Provides cafeteria workers with student's special nutritional needs such as allergies and special diets, offers home visits as needed to assist with the care of a student, serves on school committees, assists with planning for the safety of students with special health needs, provides wellness activities for the staff, and serves as a liaison to the medical community.
