Program: Welfare to Work - Jobs First Program Administration

Agency: LABOR, STATE OF CONNECTICUT DEPARTMENT OF

Resource Number: 17316648
Description
State Welfare-to-Work program provides Temporary Family Assistance (TFA) recipients with job search assistance, which may include job search skills training, job placement services, occupational skills training, subsidized employment and adult education. NOTE: Pursuing two and four-year degrees can now be approved work activities for parents under a new law passed in June 2010. This DOES NOT extend the amount of time a family can receive cash assistance, and it DOES NOT mean that the state will pay for tuition or other school expenses.  The Department contracts with Workforce Investment Boards and American Job Centers to provide the direct services to clients.
