Description
DOL partners with Workforce Development Boards and community based providers to deliver employment preparation and job training services to low income youth who have at least one barrier to employment, adults who need help gaining employment, people with disabilities, veterans, displaced workers, displaced homeowners, and ex-offenders. Intensive employment assistance and training are provided to those with few or no skills. Training is dependent upon fund availability. The youth component of the WIOA program includes a summer job, but requires year round involvement in educational enrichment and pre-job skills programming.

Program Delivery
Eligibility: U.S. citizen; Must meet Selective Service Registration requirements.

OTHER ELIG: YOUTH programs are for ages 14 through 21 who are low income AND who have at least one barrier to employment. A small percentage (5%) of youth in the WIOA program are not subject to income restrictions, but must have at least one barrier to employment. Barriers to employment for youth include low literacy, high school dropout, teen parent, judicial offender, runaway, or other Workforce Investment Board-specified barrier.
ADULTS:
**Core adult employment services do not have income restrictions, and are for adults who have marketable skills and who need assistance in getting a job. Adults with few or no skills are eligible for intensive job search assistance and training. Training programs are dependent on the availability of funding.
