Program: Matching Payment Plan - Southern Connecticut Gas Company

Agency: SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT GAS COMPANY

Resource Number: 17326174
Alternate name: Utility assistance;

Description
Matching Payment Plan reduces payments of customers who have been approved for "hardship" status. Household income must be under 60% of the State Median. For every payment received, the customer will have deducted from their bill an amount equal to the money they have paid and the amount received from the energy assistance program, down to a zero balance. (A customer cannot receive a credit balance from this program.) If a customer misses a payment during Phase I of the program (11/1-5/1), he/she will not be removed from the program as long as all missed payments are paid by 5/1. During Phase II of the program (5/2-10/31), customers must make six monthly payments. If two payments are missed during Phase II, the customer is removed from the program and will receive a shut off notice. If power is shut off, customer is eligible to catch up on missed payments to get back on the plan.
