Description
The Therapeutic Shelter is a residential facility that provides case management and treatment services for adult men ages 18+. This is a short-term program (1 week to 1 month) for men contemplating a step towards recovery or for those who have completed formal treatment and are awaiting placement in the next level of care. 24-hour treatment services provided by shelter staff include: individualized care, crisis intervention, case management services, needs assessment, access to community resources, referrals to treatment programs, self-help and 12-step meetings, group therapy, educational groups, and family involvement.

Program Delivery
Eligibility: Men ages 18+ who are alcohol/substance abusers and ex-offenders in re-entry programs on parole, probation, jail diversion, pre-work release and at end of sentence; Individuals on methadone maintenance are not accepted; Program does not accept those convicted of arson; Sex offenders and those convicted of a violent crime are reviewed on a case by case basis

Application Process: Call for information; Telephone pre-admission screening; Medical clearance; Referred by hospital or community agency; Motivated for further treatment
Program Fees: Set fee; Sliding fee for those without insurance
Documents Required: Medical clearance; Psychosocial, if available; TB test results
Capacity: (8) DOC bed total; (3) Court Support Services (CSSD) bed total; (12) DHMAS bed total - self referral accepted for these beds
