Description
Life skills program uses a DCF approved curriculum along with DCF approved experiential learning approaches, provides youth with a set of skills necessary to assist in their transition from DCF care to self-sufficiency in the community. This service includes life skills assessment services followed by one to one educational services. Target population for this program is DCF committed youth age 14 and older who reside in foster homes in the community or referred community youth. Provides vocational programs, specialized group interventions comprising substance abuse prevention and early intervention, leadership programs, and community-focused activities.

NOTE: This program is NOT for youth who are inquiring about voluntary emancipation.

Program Delivery
Eligibility: Admission to the program is in the following priority order: DCF committed youth ages 14+, DCF involved youth, and then, non-DCF involved youth
Application Process: DCF referral; Community youth who have no DCF involvement should call the Director of Community Program to determine if there is space available
Program Fees: No fee for DCF youth; Set fee for services for community youth
