Description
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Provides a time limited cash assistance program for families with minor children. The program is designed to help families to become independent of welfare support through work, personal responsibility and community involvement. TCA has a 5-year lifetime limit for benefits. Single adult households are required to participate in work activities for a minimum of 20 hours per week for families with children under six and 30 hours per week for families with children over 6, in exchange for temporary cash assistance, training, emergency assistance and assistance with applying for Child Care through the Maryland State Department of Education.

WORK ACTIVITIES: May include job search, attendance in an approved educational course, on-the-job training and/or community service. Exemption from work activities: parent of children under 1 year, a non-custodial parent relative caring for a child and disabled adults or child (pursuit of SSI required).
