Description
Provides state-mandated and city services relating to animal control and animal protection. Services provided include:
- Animal shelter
- Pick up strays and dead animals
- Investigates complaints of abused animals
- Investigates loud or vicious dogs
- Adoption of strays is available after five days
- Dog licensing
Dogs or cats adopted from a county operated animal shelter will be spayed or neutered before transfer of possession of the animal to the new owner.

Cost of Licensing include:
3 year license: $40.00 ($20.00 if dog is spayed/neutered)
2 year license: $30.00 ($15.00 if dog is spayed/neutered)
1 year license: $20.00 ($10.00 if dog is spayed/neutered)
Dog owners 62 years or older pay one-half required fee.
