Description

Provides monthly cash benefits to aged, blind, or disabled non-citizens who are Legal Permanent Residents (LPR) and are not eligible for SSI/SSP due to their immigration status. Benefit amounts vary depending on the individual's marital status, living arrangement, and income. The payment standards are the same as SSI/SSP payment standards.

CAPI recipients may be eligible for Medi-Cal, CalFresh, and In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS), but must file for each benefit separately.

Program Delivery
Eligibility: The individual must meet all of the following requirements:
- Be ineligible for SSI/SSP solely due to immigration status
- Be aged, blind, or disabled
- Be a resident of California
- Have resources below the allowable limits of $2,000 for an individual or $3,000 for a couple
- Have income that is less than the CAPI Payment Standard
- Be a non-citizen and meet immigration status criteria
Languages: Translation services available for multiple languages upon request, American Sign Language Interpreter available on request, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, Vietnamese, English, Chinese
