Eligibility:

Priority is given to low-income families with small children and seniors aged 60+; however, anyone living in Sacramento County in need may apply for assistance. The person applying for assistance must live at the address, and their name must be on the bill. Must be a legal resident or a lawfully present non-U.S. citizen (have a California Driver's License, California ID Card, Passport, or Green Card).
Households must meet income guidelines, which vary depending on the type of assistance required. Call for more information on income eligibility.
- For SMUD, customers must have a shut-off notice in a grey envelope. - For PG&E, customers must have a notice of termination of service (15-day or 48-hour) and a past due balance of up to $2,000.
