Description
Department promotes accuracy in weighing and measuring devices. Standards Program is part of the Food, Standards and Product Safety Division and is responsible for:
Ensuring the accuracy of all weights and measures used in Connecticut trade; Operating the Measurement Center Metrology Laboratory, ensuring custody of State standards for weighing and measuring and for traceability of those standards to Federal and International standards for weighing and measuring; Overseeing licensees under the Heating Oil Dealer, Retail Gasoline Dealer, Motor Fuel Quality, and Weighing and Measuring Device Dealers and Repairers laws; Overseeing motor fuel quality pursuant to ASTM standards as adopted by Connecticut, the free air law for tire inflation, pricing of commodities at retail.
