Description
The Kern County Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) provides a variety of child support services to custodial and non-custodial parents and helps parents fulfill their responsibilities to their children.
Services DCSS Provides:
- Locating a parent to establish paternity and/or child support
- Establishing, modifying and enforcing a court order to pay for child support and medical support
- Enforcement of child support and spousal support orders
- Establishing and enforcing medical support (including dental, and vision care)
- Genetic testing
- Services DCSS Does Not Provide:
- Handling of custody or visitation matters
- Handling of divorces
- Obtaining or enforcing restraining orders
- Establishment of spousal support orders
The Ombudsperson helps you resolve issues with your child support case, explains your rights and responsibilities, and explains ways you can get child support services.
Responsibilities of the Ombudsperson:
- To help you with child support issues
- To assist you in understanding the complaint resolution process before, during, and after the complaint is filed.
- To assist you in preparing for a state hearing
You can file a complaint if you are not satisfied with the assistance you are receiving from the county - Department of Child Support Services in resolving your child support issues, (Kids County Resource Center is on 1St. floor and available for public use.; Three Computers with Internet Access, Copier/Printer, Fax Machine, and a Phone.
