Visit www.fire.ca.gov careers link for vacancies, application process, and filing details. Fire Fighter I Classification: Open application period is between November and January. Hiring occurs between April and June depending on fire and weather conditions. Must file a Fire Fighter I application at each CAL FIRE unit you wish to be considered for an appointment. Applications will not be accepted at Sacramento Headquarters, Region Offices, or Conservation Camps.
