Description

Responds to 911 emergency calls regarding individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. Provides clinical assessment and crisis intervention, including linkage to resources and support services.

CCIT goals:

  • Increase public safety
  • Decrease unnecessary hospitalizations or incarcerations of individuals experiencing a mental health crisis
  • Provide knowledge of and access to local mental health resources

CCIT is a collaboration between Sacramento County Behavioral Health Services and Sacramento County Law Enforcement. CCIT is partnered with the Citrus Heights Police Department, Folsom Police Department, Galt Police Department, and Sacramento Fire Department (within city limits only).

Follow-up Hours: Monday through Friday, 8 am - 5 pm

Program Delivery
Eligibility: Those living within the City of Citrus Heights, City of Folsom, City of Galt, and City of Sacramento (within city limits).

CCIT does not provide services to unincorporated areas of Sacramento County.
Languages: Interpreter service available, American Sign Language Interpreter available on request, Spanish, English
Application Process: Call. CCIT responds to emergency calls through local law enforcement and fire dispatch (9-1-1).

When to call 9-1-1 for immediate response:
- There is a criminal component to the event or incident
- The risk is imminent/immediate
- The individual has stated a plausible threat to harm
- Current risk of danger to self, others, or community
- Inability to survive safely in the community (gravely disabled)

CCIT units respond to as many mental health-related calls for service as they are able during their hours of operation. In the absence of a CCIT unit, other first responders may respond to mediate the crisis via Law Enforcement dispatch processes.
