Description
Offers caregivers a variety of services when caring for their loved ones at home. Services include general information, referral and assistance, and short-term respite services. NFCSP program also offers Supplemental Services which are items or services that are necessary to maintain the care recipient at home, but are not available through outside funding. Items can include household items that need to be replaced, small home repairs and adaptive devices, and other home health supplies. Also called “Gap filling services” Supplemental Services may be applicable to a wide variety of items. Eligibility for respite and supplemental assistance includes that a Caregiver must be caring for a care recipient who meets specific requirements. Eligible Caregivers must fall under of the following categories:
 
  • Adult family members or other informal caregivers, age 18 and older, providing care to individuals 60 years of age and older.
  • Adult family members or other informal caregivers, age 18 and older, providing care to individuals of any age with Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders.
  • Grandparents and other relatives 55 years of age and older providing care to children under the age of 18.
  • Grandparents and other relatives 55 years of age and older providing care to adults aged 18-59 with disabilities.

Program Delivery

Program Fees: Area Agencies on Aging shall request a cost-share based on the Care Recipients income for Respite services and Supplemental purchases made
