Program: Baltimore City Mayor's Office, CitiWatch Community Partnership

Agency: Baltimore City Mayor's Office

Resource Number: 85729622
Description

CRIME REPORTING: Voluntary registry of private security cameras that will enhance public safety response with video evidence when a crime or quality of life disruption occurs. Private Security Camera System Rebate and Voucher Program provides rebates and vouchers of up to $150 available to qualifying registrants who’ve purchased a security camera system after June 1, 2020. Homeowners, renters, and small business owners are eligible and encouraged to participate.

For more information visit http://citiwatch.baltimorecity.gov/Faq.aspx. Participants can register any number of cameras with the Community Partnership. The City asks that registered cameras are pointed towards a public right-of-way – so as not to intrude on anyone’s private property – and that participants retain at least 48 hours of video footage. HABC properties are eligible. Participants should be willing to work with the City’s public safety agencies, including the Baltimore Police Department, if contacted. Baltimore City Police Department will not have access to live video from the camera, but it can request that the program participant provide access to recorded footage. Participants are not obligated to provide footage if they decide not to. In rare circumstances a court may issue a subpoena for footage. Residents can check the Applicant Priority Map to see if they are living in a high priority area https://baltplanning.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=b5b86d33c9414f8980c5768dfa8ba875.
