Program: Reduced Fee ID Cards

Description
Offers a reduced application fee for an original or renewal ID card if individuals who have a completed Verification for Reduced Fee Identification Card form (DL 937). Also offers no-fee ID card to individuals who have a completed No Fee Identification Card Eligibility Verification form (DL 933)

Both DL 937 and DL 933 forms could be obtained on the DMV Portal or through case workers of selected governmental or non-profit assistance programs including:
  • CalWORKs
  • General Relief
  • CalFresh
  • California Food Assistance Program (CFAP)
  • Cash Assistance Program for Immigrants (CAPI)
  • County Medical Services (CMS)
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI/SSP)
Note: The reduced DMV fee does not apply to the Medi-Cal Program.

Program Delivery
Eligibility: Must be individuals who have a completed DL 937 or DL 933 form.



Reduced fee (DL 937): low-income individuals receiving CalWORKs, General Relief, CalFresh, California Food Assistance Program (CFAP), Cash Assistance Program for Immigrants (CAPI), County Medical Services (CMS), Supplemental Security Income (SSI/SSP) or other selected nonprofit assistance programs.



No fee (DL 933): Must be homeless and either an applicant or recipient of aid.

Application Process: Contact your case workers of the selected public assistance or nonprofit program to obtain a completed DL 937 or DL 933 form. Bring the completed form to the DMV office for a reduced fee ID card.
