Provides grants up to $5,000 for emergency/health and safety repairs and accessibility modifications to owners of single-family homes or mobile homes in the City of Sacramento and the unincorporated County of Sacramento. Not available in Citrus Heights, Elk Grove, or Rancho Cordova. 

SEASONAL PROGRAM: The program takes applications from June 1st through August 31st and December 1st through February 28th. (CLOSED MARCH-MAY and SEPTEMBER-NOVEMBER)

Emergency Repairs are limited to the following: (More details available on the website)
  • Roofing (for leaking roofs) (patching only on houses, full replacements only on single-wide mobile homes) (WINTER ONLY)
  • Exterior Entry Doors (repair only)
  • Exterior Windows (for broken windows) (replacement or repair)
  • Accessibility Repairs and Installation such as ramps, handrails or repairing walkways (only for clients releasing from a medical facility)
  • Water Heaters (replacement or repair)
  • Heating Systems/Cooling Systems (repair, replacement (small units only), or purchase of wall heaters or wall air conditioning units) (HEATING SYSTEMS IN WINTER ONLY, COOLING SYSTEMS IN SUMMER ONLY)
  • Plumbing Interior (water lines, sewer lines, toilet repairs, etc.)
  • Electrical (repair of breakers, panels or wiring)
  • Gas Lines (repair only of Natural Gas, CNG, Propane)
  • Floors (repair only)

Program Delivery
Eligibility: Emergency Repairs: Owner-occupants of single-family homes and mobile homes in the City and unincorporated County of Sacramento who has not received more than $5,000 of previous ERP-A assistance (there is a lifetime limit of $5,000 per grantee). Must have owned the home for a minimum of 6 months. Must be defined as a very low-income household with income less than or equal to fifty percent (50%) of the area median income adjusted for household size. For accessibility repairs, the client must be released from a medical facility and have a doctor's statement that they must have the repair in order to be released. Roofs and heating systems are repaired in the winter only. Cooling systems repaired in the summer only.

Accessibility Modifications: Very limited funding. Must be being released from the hospital and in need of existing repairs, for example, a ramp. Need a doctor's order and the repair has to have been permitted by the city or county.

Call to determine eligibility. After it is confirmed that you are eligible, a construction technician will call you to schedule an appointment to inspect the property and schedule the work. When mailing in documents specify ERP Program on the mailing address.
