Description

Provides services to school-aged children within the San Juan Unified School District who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence.

Services include:

  • Immediate enrollment without the typically required documents such as proof of residency, immunization records, school records, and legal guardianship papers
  • Removal of all barriers to Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE), enrollment, and extracurricular activities
  • Transportation
  • Homeless liaison support

A homeless child or youth who becomes permanently housed during the school year will continue to be eligible for McKinney Vento services for the remainder of that school year.

Includes children whose residence is any of the following: shared with another family, a shelter, a motel/hotel, transitional housing, a trailer park, a campground, a makeshift arrangement in someone's home, or a place not designed for human accommodation.
