Assists low-income persons and families so they can purchase food and better meet their nutritional needs. The program is not intended to supply all of a person's or family's food needs. Instead, it helps while the person or family makes an effort to become self-supporting. Monthly benefit levels are based on income and the number of persons in the household.

NOTE: Households exiting the MFIP program may still qualify for food assistance from the Food Support program.

Program Delivery
Eligibility: - Household's net income is approximately 130 percent of federal poverty or below

- If all of the persons in a household qualify for General Assistance (GA) or the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program
Languages: Interpreters available
Application Process: - Call, walk in; visit website

- Application forms are available on-line or can be mailed

- Completed forms can be dropped off at any Human Services or Satellite Center location; or mail to the address listed on the form

- Apply online at ApplyMN which is a secure website

- Lost/stolen EBT cards or other EBT card concerns call separate intake phone

Note: The agency processing time frames are the same if application process is online, in-person or by mail

Documents Required: Verification of assets and income for each household member; ID and Social Security number of each household member
