Description
Provides a monthly cash grant to people who are aged, blind or disabled and who receive federal Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits. Some persons whose income is too high to receive SSI may be eligible for MSA.

NOTE: Most of these persons also receive or are eligible to receive SSI and/or RSDI. Applications for SSI/RSDI are handled through the local Social Security office, not Hennepin County. Persons may be eligible for the Medicare Savings Programs.

Program Delivery
Eligibility: Minnesota residents who are recipients of SSI, or are eligible for SSI except for excess income and whose net income is less than the MSA standards and who are:

- Age 65 or older

- Over age 18 and certified blind or disabled by the Social Security Administration
Languages: Interpreters available
Application Process: - Call; walk in; visit website

- Visit website/apply online at ApplyMN which is a secure web application

- Completed forms can be dropped off at any Human Services or Satellite Center location; mail to the address listed on the form

Note: The agency processing time frames are the same if application process is online or in-person

Documents Required: Verification of assets and income for each family member; other possible verifications
