Comcast: Comcast is partnering with Twin Cities nonprofit organizations to launch safe community spaces for low income students to get online for distance learning. Lift Zones provide safe spaces inside partner community centers equipped with free internet access to help low income students participate in distance learning for the next 3 years. Twin Cities community organizations that have established Lift Zones in their facilities include:OLMSTED COUNTY

Boys & Girls Club of Rochester: Beginning Monday, September 28, 2020 a distance learning support program for students in Kindergarten - 12th grade, including full-day care; technology access and support; free wifi; 3 meals; workforce and job support; drop in hours for high school students; social activities; and additional enrichment programming will be provided. The program days is approximately 8 am - 5 pm (with staggered starting times, to reduce traffic and interactions) and will take place at the Mayo Civic Center. Rochester YMCA: Provides licensed child care full-day preschool (infant, toddler and preschool) program at the Early Childhood Learning Center (ECLC) located at 2364 Valleyhigh Drive NW Rochester, MN 55901 near Lourdes High School. This service is for emergency, essential and critical care workers. Provides school age care for students in grades K-6 and s available 7 am - 5:30 pm at 709 1st Avenue Rochester, MN 55902. Hours may change based on parent feedback. Space is available for two, three or five days a week care. This service is for essential and critical care workers (not emergency workers). Choose Child Care. Also provides flexible, full-day school age care with distance learning support. Register Online.

RAMSEY COUNTY

Comcast: Comcast is partnering with Twin Cities nonprofit organizations to launch safe community spaces for low income students to get online for distance learning. Lift Zones provide safe spaces inside partner community centers equipped with free internet access to help low income students participate in distance learning for the next 3 years. Twin Cities community organizations that have established Lift Zones in their facilities include:Sanneh Foundation Distanced Learning Hub at Conway Community Center: Aims to allow parents and guardians to obtain jobs or continue working by providing a safe space for their children during normal school hours. The program is free and targeted at students in 2nd-6th grades. Drop-off begins at 8 am, with sessions beginning at 8:30 am and ending at 2 pm. In addition to a daily breakfast, lunch, and snack, students will receive a T-shirt and have access to an iPad charging station. Families can also enroll their children in the 2 pm - 6 pm Enrichment Time, which includes a dinner and snack in addition to the day's earlier meals. STATEWIDE

Good Neighbor Center: Provides tutoring in person but is unable to do so currently. Contact them for a referral to The Connexions Tutoring Team which provides free online math tutoring for students in grades 2 - 12 who are residents of Minnesota by juniors and seniors in high school. Fill Out Contact Form.

Scholar Squad – Reading Corps and Math Corps: Provides free one-on-one virtual tutoring to help Minnesota children in Pre K - 8th grade build essential skills in reading and math.
Reading Program:
Reading Corps helps readers, age 3 to grade 3, get ready for Kindergarten and on track for third grade reading.
Math Program:
Math Corps helps students in grades 4-8 build foundational math skills.
 
Also provides resources, videos, and activities that can be done at home to support learning. Multilingual brochures/flyers are available on website. Tutoring is provided in English language only.
