Description COLORECTAL CANCER SERVICES: Provides free examination and screening for eligible individuals over age 45. Eligible individuals are those who meet financial requirements and do not have insurance, or their insurance does not cover cost of screening. NALOXONE TRAINING: Offers an educational program that includes an understanding of opioids, recognizing signs and symptoms of an overdose, proper rescue breathing techniques, proper administration of naloxone, and care for the individual until the paramedics arrive. Individuals must be 18 and older related to and/or working with individuals dealing with opiate substance use. Provided to family members, caregivers, guardians, and health/human service workers. ADULT IMMUNIZATIONS: Provides vaccines for out-of-country travel (hepatitis A and typhoid), hepatitis B, pneumonia, tetanus, flu, MMR, Tdap, and Varicella. Rabies (pre-exposure) vaccine is administered to high-risk individuals. Those include: veterinary hospital staff, animal hunters/trappers, and those who are conducting research on wildlife. By appointment only. Available on Tues, Wed, and Fri from 8AM-4PM.

HIV & COMMUNICABLE DISEASES:STI testing clinics are held on Mondays and Thursday from 9am to 3pm. HIV testing is done Monday-Friday 9am-3pm on a walk-in basis.

SERVICES FOR PERSONS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES: Offers Case managers that assist in locating services for developmentally disabled of all ages. A variety of support services and placements in day and residential programs are provided based on need and availability. 410-376-0024.

PERSONAL CARE: Provides assistance with activities of daily living of the chronically ill, elderly and/or physically disabled who have Medical Assistance.

ADULT EVALUATION and REVIEW SERVICES (AERS): Offers multi-disciplinary evaluations to identify available community resources, provide education and develop care plans to keep health impaired persons at home, or to assist them with appropriate placement.

HEALTHY FAMILIES: Provides screening, referrals and when appropriate home visits. All pregnant women and families with newborns living in Dorchester County are eligible. For more information, please contact our program office at 410-901-8172.

CHILD IMMUNIZATIONS: Provides free shots to children ages birth to 18 meeting certain eligibility criteria. Vaccinations are by appointment only. For more information, please contact Ashlea Foxwell, RN, at 410-901-8183 or Shelia Uncapher, RN, at 410-901-8170.

FAMILY PLANNING: Provides birth control counseling, contraceptive methods, pregnancy testing and referrals, STI/HIV counseling, testing and treatment, breast exams, cervical cancer and HPV screening and referral for colposcopy services to women of childbearing age. Call to schedule an appointment.

SCHOOL HEALTH: Provides vision, hearing screening and communicable disease prevention offered at County Schools. For more information about the program and school-based wellness centers, please call Beth Spencer at 410-901-8177.

HEALTH EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH: Provides programs on drug and alcohol abuse prevention, tobacco prevention and cessation, chronic disease prevention, teen pregnancy and STI prevention, and more.

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH: Offers retail food service inspections. Issues permits for residential wells and sewage systems. Monitors water quality. Sponsors rabies program. 410-228-1167.

VITAL RECORDS: Provides birth certificates for individuals born in the State of Maryland from 1940 to present, death certificates on file with DCHD for 30 days to qualified individuals. Hours from 8:30AM - 1:30PM, Monday through Friday.
