Description
|
ADULT PROTECTIVE SERVICES: Investigates reports of abuse, neglect, self-neglect, sexual or financial exploitation of vulnerable adults. Assists or acts on the behalf of adults who lack the mental or physical capacity to sufficiently provide for their daily needs in order to protect their health, safety, welfare, and to prevent or remedy neglect or self neglect, abuse or exploitation.
If an APS investigation reveals the need for guardianship of a vulnerable adult, case workers assist or act on behalf of the vulnerable adult to find an appropriate individual or agency who may petition the court for guardianship. Also, may assist the petitioner in seeking two licensed physicians to attest to competency.
