UTILITY BILL PAYMENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS: Provides bill assistance to low-income households. Applicants can check the status of their submitted application, find local offices to apply in person, download the OHEP application or be directed to the application portal by visiting www.myohepstatus.org and checking at the bottom of the page. The Office of Home Energy Programs (OHEP), provides four separate grants, Maryland Energy Assistance Program (MEAP) ,Electrical Universal Service Program (EUSP), and the Arrearage Retirement Assistance ( ARA) and Gas Arrearage Retirement Assistance (GARA). Also, provides referrals to Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) for energy efficiency improvements or weatherization. WEATHERIZATION: Energy efficiency improvements such as, furnace cleaning and tuning, added insulation, and energy efficient light bulbs are offered at no additional cost to income eligible Marylanders who apply for weatherization program. Eligibility
|
Renters, homeowners, residents of public housing, roomers/boarders and sub-metered homes (where you pay another company, not the utility directly), who meet gross income requirements for 30 days prior to applying.

Copy of the applicant's photo ID (Persons 62 and older or homebound can provide a birth certificate or Medicaid/Medicare card, copy of a document with the social security number)
Proof of residence
Proof of income for all adults on the application, the gross income (pre-tax) for the last 30 days
