Description

TRANSPORTATION TICKETS: Offers transportation assistance to individuals in need of medical treatment for cancer or cardiac care. Offers commercial airline tickets for patient and caregiver who are traveling up to 750 miles, may be longer depending on patient’s circumstances. May provide gas card, bus card, or a train ticket to individuals traveling up to 100 miles round trip.

VOLUNTEER PILOTS: Offers volunteer pilots to provide transportation to patients in need of medical services. Transportation offered up to 750 (350 miles for transplant patients) anywhere in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Patient must be able to walk independently. One support person may accompany the patient. If patient is under 18, parents may accompany.

NOTE: Individuals who use supplemental oxygen, those seeking mental health treatment, or treatment for opioid abuse are not eligible.

Program
Eligibility Ambulatory patients of any age with verified medical and financial need, who require transport to another city or state for medical service. Individuals may apply every 3 months for gas card.

Availability May be used at most 1 time per 1 month(s)

Application Process Doctor or patient should apply at least 2 weeks in advance.

Normal Wait Times Wait time is 2 weeks for gas card, 3 weeks for commercial airline tickets, and 14 days for angel flights.
Volunteer Requirements Licensed airplane pilots.
