The Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES) at the Archie Courtnall Centre, located within Royal Jubilee Hospital, is a specialized unit providing urgent mental health and addiction care. The centre handles psychiatric crises, offering intensive assessment, crisis intervention, and treatment initiation for adults aged 17 to 75. PES supports those experiencing psychiatric disorders or substance use crises, with short-term inpatient care available. The centre is integrated into the hospital's emergency department, offering 24/7 access.

• Crisis Intervention: Immediate mental health assessments and crisis stabilization.

• Inpatient Care: Four short-stay rooms for patients requiring intensive stabilization.

Eligibility

• Ages 17 to 75: For individuals in mental health or substance use crises.
• Medical Clearance: Patients must first be medically cleared at the emergency department.

• Through the Emergency Department: Access PES by presenting at the Royal Jubilee Hospital's Emergency Department at 1952 Bay Street.
• 24/7 Service: The unit is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week for urgent psychiatric care.
