Description

Prevents cruelty, abuse, and neglect of animals in Frederick County by enforcing all state, county, and city ordinances. Does NOT assist with pet care or veterinary services.

SHELTER SERVICES: Accepts stray, ill, injured, or unwanted dogs and cats. Works to reunite lost animals reunited their owners. Unclaimed animals are placed for adoption.

ADOPTION: Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to adopt. Cost of adoption varies.

LICENSING: Issues county licenses for a minimal cost, per Frederick County Law. ALL county residents must purchase a license for ALL dogs and cats (indoor and outdoor).

PET FOOD BANK: Available to seniors (65+) or low-income families who have Frederick County licensed, rabies vaccinated, and neutered/spayed pets.

DONATIONS: Accepts donations of unopened pet food, cat litter, and other items. Donations can be dropped off anytime at the outdoor bins located at rear of building.

Eligibility Adoptions are open to county residents ages 18+. Pet food bank is open to Seniors age 65+ and low-income families.

Documents Required Photo ID, proof of address, others as required by program.
Volunteer Requirements Adults ages 18 or older.
