Description

Provides approval of the annual County budget, levies taxes for county purposes, issues bonds for capital improvements and serves as the purchasing and contracting agent for the County. The Board controls county-owned real and personal property. In cooperation with the County Engineer, the Board approves the maintenance and construction of county roads and bridges. The Board of Commissioners has direct authority over the: Ashtabula County Department of Job and Family Services, the County Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, IT Services, Office Services, Department of Building Regulations, Department of Environmental Services, Department of Planning, Community Services, Dog Warden, Emergency Management Agency, 911 Department and Building Maintenance Department.
