INFORMATION AND REFERRAL: Provides information and referral for a variety of independent living interest such as: assistive technology, architectural barrier removal, education, employment, recreation, health, transportation, and more. Where appropriate, offers referrals to agencies and resources for planning and self-directing services.
PEER MENTORING: Connects people with disabilities with peers who have similar lived experience. Individuals work with Independent Living Specialists (ILS) to help set achievable goals and strategies to achieve these goals. Peer counseling can occur individually or in a small group setting.
INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS TRAINING: Teaches individuals skills necessary for acquiring, maintaining, or increasing independence such as budgeting, safety, and employment readiness. Training may take place individually or in a small group setting.
ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY: Assistive Technology program assists eligible people with significant disabilities living in Anne Arundel and Howard Counties to access the technology to support living independently. Offers funding assistance, portable ramp loans, and assistive technology demonstration and referral.
TRANSITION SERVICES: Offers self-advocacy classes to help guide young adults with disabilities toward higher education, the workforce, and civic engagement. Also, helps people with disabilities move from nursing homes and other institutions back into the community and supports those at risk of entering a nursing home avoid entering one.
