Description
|
To serve persons who are 60 years or older in meeting their needs and helping them remain independent within their own homes. Operates the senior centers around the county.
Also offers the following services: SHIP - Insurance information and assistance program MediSmart , Medicare,Medicaid fraud assistance.
Alabama Cares Program - Designed to support family caregivers by providing training, assistance and resources to help them take care of their aging loved one and themselves. Clients who are not Medicaid Waiver recipients are not eligible.
Legal Services for Seniors - A TARCOG attorney visits the Council on Aging office one day per month to assist seniors with legal issues. This is by appointment only. Will help with preparing a will and etc.

Provide meals to homebound who live in either the city limits or rural areas. Must be homebound, not able to drive or have anyone who is able to cook or provide meals for them. Donations are accepted.
Medicaid Waiver Program - Provides in-home care for the elderly, homebound and disabled. To be eligible for this program, a client must be a Medicaid recipient with medical needs.
Senior Employment Program - Assist seniors age 55 and old, with limited incomes, find job and increase income and learn new skills.
