WIREGRASS AREA FOOD BANK DONATIONS & VOLUNTEERS: FOOD DONATIONS: The food bank is a non-profit hunger relief charity that solicits and collects surplus food. The food bank stores and distributes this food to agencies primarily feeding the needy. Food is distributed free by affiliate agencies to the hungry, the elderly and children either through on-site meals or by emergency food boxes. No donated food is ever sold by the Food Bank or by any member agency. Food recipients incur no cost for food assistance.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: The food bank has an ongoing need for volunteers in different capacities. Please call for additional information.
BROWN BAG VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: The Brown Bag Program of the Wiregrass is in need of caring volunteers to help pack groceries. Brown Bag provides 35-45 pounds of supplemental food on the third Wednesday of each month to seniors age 60 and older living below the poverty level. Volunteers are needed to pack food for distribution at the Wiregrass Area Food Bank at 382 Twitchell Road in Dothan.
