Description RCAA's RAVEN Project is a youth led, youth implemented street outreach program/drop-in center. The population RAVEN serves is youth up to age 21 who are homeless, runaways, traveling, disenfranchised, on the streets, or at risk. The project has three main goals: To help with the health and well-being of youth living and/or hanging on the streets, to provide employment opportunities to homeless, street, disenfranchised youth, and to provide weekly Empowerment groups for youth ages 10-21. RAVEN's free services for youth include: weekly anonymous HIV testing, peer mediation/counseling, harm reduction education, job preparation assistance, social service application assistance, a place to get mail, peer counseling, financial aid and school registration assistance, computer/internet use, phone use, showers, meals, laundry, clothing, blankets/sleeping bags, safer sex supplies, first aid supplies, and basic hygiene materials. RAVEN also provides youth with community referrals for food, shelter, employment, education, substance use/abuse, low-cost medical treatment, and other services. Small amounts of dog and cat food are sometimes available.
Within the network of YSB, RAVEN is able to provide youth access to a 24-hour youth and families crisis line, a two week emergency shelter for youth ages 10-17, and a transitional living program for youth ages 16-24.
