Description

HEALTH INSURANCE: Medical coverage for pregnant women who are not U.S. Citizens and are income eligible. Insurance covers prenatal visits through four months postpartum. Individuals can apply when they are pregnant. The benefits are the same as those for other pregnant Medicaid members. Medicaid may help pay for health services someone used in the three months before they applied. To learn more, contact Maryland Health Connection or the local Health Department or Department of Social Services.

Medicaid will pay for:

•    Doctor visits

•    Prenatal visits before baby is born

•    Hospital care

•    Hospital stay when the baby is born

•    Dental care

•    Lab work and tests

•    Prescription drugs 

•    Mental health care

•    Behavioral health care - help to stop smoking, drinking alcohol, or using drugs

•    Transportation services - a ride to and from medical care through Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT)
