FAQS:
-.For application status updates, customers can provide an email address when they submit their application. If provided, UWCM will provide status updates regarding their application.
-Submitting an application for the BGE Customer Relief Fund does not automatically prevent service disconnection. If the past-due balance exceeds the amount awarded by this program, the customer is still at risk of disconnection. Customers are strongly encouraged to continue making payments on their BGE bill while their application is under review, and to explore other available assistance programs to avoid service interruptions. Important note: BGE issued a moratorium on utility shut offs as of Dec 17, 2025 through Feb 28, 2026. Customers are responsible for paying for energy used during this time frame. Customers should check their bill and BGE website for more information.
-Once funds are exhausted, the application portal will close.
-Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Once approved, UWCM coordinates with BGE for direct account credit. Successful applicants can expect to see the funds credited to their BGE account in up to 8 weeks.
-Customers who have received support from programs like the Fuel Fund of Maryland, the Office of Home Energy Programs (OHEP), or other utility assistance resources are still eligible to apply for the BGE Customer Relief Fund, as long as they meet the program’s income requirements.
-The BGE Customer Relief Fund is only available to active BGE gas customers in Maryland. Customers of Delmarva Power and Pepco should visit their websites for more information.
Customers seeking assistance completing the application can visit any Baltimore City CAP center to request assistance. Customers need to sign in and request to meet with a human service worker.
