FOOD STAMPS/SNAP: Offers a monthly benefit to eligible low-income household for the purchase of food from participating stores. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) defines a household as a group of people who live together and buy food and prepare meals together. Applicants need to meet certain income thresholds in order to receive benefits. The gross income, before taxes, and certain deductions will determine the amount received and it may not cover enough food for a month. Note:Benefits are received on an independence card like a bank debit card to access benefits. To check the balance of the EBT card or request a replacement card, call 1-800-997-2222, not the local office.
