Alternate Name
Baltimore County DSS, Foster Care and Adoptions
Description
FOSTER CARE: Places children in foster homes or group homes when the child is believed to be at risk of abuse or neglect. Placement is generally ordered through the juvenile court system. Permanent placement is the focus of the service with reunification being the preferable plan whenever possible.
FOSTER/ADOPTIVE HOME LICENSING: Requires licenses for families providing 24-hour care for non-related children. Once approved, foster/adoptive parents receive board payments, a Medicaid/Medical Assistance card, and a clothing allowance for the support of the foster child. Interested families can be dually licensed for foster care and adoption. Regular information meetings are held.
