Alternate Name Maryland State Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped; LBPD
Description LIBRARY: Provides unabridged recorded books and magazines, reading material, large print, braille, descriptive video, and a library for the print disabled. Playback machine also available. Provides large print, audio, and Braille books and magazines directly through the US Mail, as well as the direct download of over 100, 000 titles through our BARD mobile app. If patrons choose, will send a digital book player to their address on record, provide books based on their preferences and requests, and keep them abreast of the latest news from the National Library Service.

Program
Eligibility Persons (pre-school age and above) with a qualifying diagnosed disability certification unable to use conventional print material.
Program Fees None.
Application Process Applications may be found on the website or can be completed and sent in via US Mail, email or fax.
Documents Required All applications must be certified by a medical or vision authority that the individual applying for services meets the requirements set forth by the National Library Service.
Volunteer Requirements 16 and older.
Volunteer Duties Assist with circulation and re-shelving materials. Also, narrators and reviewers opportunities available, must audition to volunteer.
