|
7/26/22: Individuals should submit an Emergency Assistance application on the mymdthink.maryland.gov website regardless of if they have children in the home, to start the application process. All EAFC denials will automatically be reviewed for Flex Fund.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Provides emergency cash assistance grant up to $500. Assists with court-ordered evictions, foreclosure, and burial assistance. Assists with BG&E turn off notices. Customers seeking assistance for BG&E should first apply for Energy Assistance (MEAP). If additional assistance is needed after Energy Assistance is received, customer should then apply with the Fuel Fund of Maryland. Customers need to bring paperwork from MEAP verifying they have applied and documentation of Fuel Fund assistance. Also assists with first month's rent or security deposits, and client must be living in Baltimore county at the time of application. Grant may be used only once in a 12 month period, determined on case-by-case basis. Also available are funds for those who have experienced an official disaster (hurricane, flood, fire). Will assist those in subsidized/public housing.

|
Low-income single individuals and families. Do NOT have to have children to be eligible for this grant. Must be living in Baltimore County at the time of the application.

Application Process
|
All applicants are required to submit an application online at https://mymdthink.maryland.gov/home/ to apply for EAFC to initiate the screening process, regardless of whether or not there are children in the home. On the mymdthink.maryland.gov website, the Emergency Assistance option is found under the Housing & Energy Assistance section. It is highly encouraged to do the process online, visit the library to apply, or if necessary, individuals can come into a DSS office to complete the application online, using the computer lab. If people need help, there are designated staff to assist them.

Documents Required
|
Must provide proof of income, identification, proof of the emergency (i.e. eviction notice or letter from BGE), and verification of other assistance such as proof of MEAP application.
