Description
|
OVERVIEW: Seeks to help youth increase their academic achievement and commitment to education, acquire career skills and knowledge for employment and long-term career development, and adopt healthy lifestyles and habits and avoid risky behaviors.
SERVICES:
1) YOUTH DEVELOPMENT: Provides a summer and after school program for middle school aged children (grades 6-8). Offers homework assistance, tutoring, cultural enrichment and recreation. Also provides an Upward Bound Program for high school students (grades 9-12) to help with college preparation and arts and enrichment.
2) AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM: A gang prevention program for high school students and parent education is offered.
3) GED: Offers GED and pre-GED classes to individuals at the Silver Spring and Hyattsville locations. Call for more information on schedule and registration.
4) WORKFORCE SERVICES: Provides out of school youths ages 16-21 with job skills and life skills training, career exploration, resume writing, interviewing skills, job placement services and more. Call for information.
