|
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Provides emergency cash assistance grant with court-ordered evictions (warrant of restitution; individuals must have court documentation), foreclosure, BG&E turn off notices, and burial assistance. Customers seeking assistance for BG&E should first apply for Energy Assistance (MEAP). If additional assistance is needed after Energy Assistance is received, customer should then apply with the Fuel Fund of Maryland. Customers need to bring paperwork from MEAP verifying they have applied and documentation of Fuel Fund assistance. Also assists with first month's rent and client must be living in Baltimore county at the time of application. Grant may be used only once in a 24-month period. Will assist those in subsidized/public housing. Flex funds may be available dependent upon circumstances, and may be used for security deposits.

|
All applicants are required to submit an application online at https://mymdthink.maryland.gov/home/ - if people do not have access to a computer, they may visit a library, or go to a DSS office to use the computer lab to submit an application online. Staff will be available to assist them as needed. On the mymdthink.maryland.gov website, the Emergency Assistance option is found under the Housing & Energy Assistance section.

Documents Required
|
Must provide proof of income, identification, and proof of the emergency (i.e. eviction notice or letter from BGE), and verification of other assistance such as proof of MEAP application.
