Coronavirus information for the Wiregrass Region. Updates are being added so check the link often. 


COVID VACCINATIONS:     
WHERE TO GO: Go to www.vaccines.gov to find out who is providing vaccines in your local area. This resource will also let you know whether or not vaccines are currently in stock or out of stock for each location. 

TRANSPORTATION FOR DISABLED & HOMEBOUND ONLY TO GET VACCINATION: Very important, you must be disabled & homebound ONLY and do not have transportation to get a vaccine AND, live in Barbour, Coffee, Covington, Dale, Geneva, Henry or Houston Counties ONLY. If so, call SARCOA at 334-793-6843 to arrange possible transportation to get your COVID Vaccine. 

COVID-19 BOOSTER SHOT (3rd Vaccination) 
Southeast Health is preparing to begin offering the third dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for people with compromised immune systems, which was authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
This 3rd dose is currently only for those who received the Moderna or Pfizer Vaccines previously.  This does not include those who received Johnson & Johnson.
Boosters and Extra Doses for Those At-Risk

Booster shots are available if you received the Pfizer vaccine more than 6 months ago and are:
·       Age 65+
·       Residents and staff in long-term care settings
·       Age 18+ and have underlying medical conditions including asthma, diabetes, obesity
·       Age 18+ and work in high-risk settings including healthcare workers, teachers, grocery store workers
·       Additional doses are recommended for immunocompromised individuals.
Guidance for Moderna and J&J recipients forthcoming.
An announcement will be forthcoming in the near future on the protocol for receiving the third dose, when it will be offered and how to schedule an appointment.
Please do not show up at the vaccine clinic for the third dose before the announcement of plans

In addition to local urgent care facilities and pharmacies, COVID-19 Testing is available at the local Health Department.
Houston County -

COVID RELATED FUNERAL EXPENSES  (Updated 4/5/2021)  
In early April, FEMA will begin providing financial assistance for funeral expenses incurred after Jan. 20, 2020 for deaths related to coronavirus (COVID-19) to help ease some of the financial stress and burden caused by the pandemic.  Families must provide the following with the application:
  • An official death certificate that attributes the death to COVID-19
  • Funeral expense documents (receipts, funeral home contract, etc.)
  • Proof of funds received from other sources

SNAP benefits may be available to those who have been laid off or out of work due to COVID-19.

Clients are encouraged to contact their local food stamp office for any questions about their particular EBT/Food Stamp account.

HEALTHCARE COVERAGE/AFFORDABLE CARE ACT (Updated 10/11/2021)

The Extended Enrollment Period Ended on  August 15, 2021.
Open Enrollment for 2022 runs Monday, November 1, 2021–Saturday, January 15, 2022.
Enroll by December 15, 2021 for coverage that starts January 1, 2022.

Please contact a local ACA Navigator or healthcare.gov for more information.  If there is a "change of life" event such as losing a job, you may be eligibile for emergency enrollment.
