Program Delivery
Eligibility: Families are chosen based on three basic eligibility criteria: 1. Need - family income is between 30% to 80% of the median income in Nevada County. 2. Ability To Pay - verify that the family does have steady income in order to successfully pay the monthly mortgage payments. 3. Willingness To Partner with Habitat - family agrees to do 500 "sweat equity" hours helping build their home or providing other service to the organization. The NC Habitat Homeowner selection committee carefully reviews applications, conducts interviews, and makes home visits in order to ensure that the families selected have the greatest need and likelihood of success as homeowners. Adults Families Females Males

Application Process: When Habitat is ready to select more families for the homeownership program, they hold an orientation meeting to discuss eligibility criteria, the application process, and supplemental documents that applicants need to assemble. At this time, Habitat will provide applications and outline important dates and deadlines.
Program Fees: There is no fee to apply. If selected, a family will purchase their home for a 1% down payment and make a monthly mortgage payment that is 30% or less of their monthly income.
